Big Finish – Vortex Magazine previews “UNIT: Revisitations” starring Jemma Redgrave

The new “Vortex” magazine from Big Finish features a preview of “UNIT: Revisitations” starring Jemma Redgrave. The boxset is due for release in November and features two “returns” from “Classic Who”. The Wirrn , from the 1975 story, “The Ark in Space” star in the two part “Hosts of the Wirrn” written by Chris Chapman. “The Ark in Space” is a pretty unforgettable story – it was Tom Baker’s second story and features his beautifully delivered “indomitable” speech. Besides, who can forget the green painted bubblewrap?

“Open the Box” is written by Roy Gill and sees the return of Captain Chin Lee from the 1971 story, “The Mind of Evil”. Roy Gill is responsible for the quite fabulous “Invocation” which is part of the “UNIT Encounters” boxset. Captain Chin Lee was a definite highlight of “The Mind of Evil” and it will be great to hear Pik-Sen Lim reprise her role.

Coming in May – UNIT: Assembled

In May, UNIT teams old and new meet in our UNIT – New Series range…

Today we’re delighted to reveal full story details for the fourth of our releases featuring Kate Stewart (Jemma Redgrave), Osgood (Ingrid Oliver) and their team in UNIT – The New Series: Assembled. This time, Kate is meeting some familiar faces from her father’s past in stories directed by Ken Bentley, written by Matt Fitton and Guy Adams, and featuring Katy Manning, Richard Franklin and John Levene:

4.1 Call to Arms by Matt Fitton

Mike Yates braves a stormy night in the Lakes to help celebrate a milestone for John Benton. An evening of fond reminiscences of old glories and friends awaits. But a long-buried past is about to catch up with them.

Meanwhile, on the rain-lashed moors, what begins as a routine mission for modern-day UNIT quickly becomes a fight for survival.

4.2 Tidal Wave by Guy Adams

When an experimental tidal power generator needs its eco-friendly credentials checked, Kate Stewart calls in an expert.

Soon, Jo Jones is bound for ‘Project Charybdis’ in the South Atlantic, along with an awestruck Osgood.

But out at sea, a treacherous plan is set in motion to awake an ancient race. Beneath the seabed an army is sleeping – an army of Sea Devils!

4.3 Retrieval by Guy Adams

As the Earth’s primeval rulers reclaim their birthright, UNIT must stand against them. And Kate Stewart and Osgood must venture into a Mediterranean stronghold to retrieve a means to fight back.

But a Silurian warrior is on their trail. Once she has the humans’ scent, Commander Tryska will never give up the hunt.

4.4 United by Matt Fitton

The Silurians hold Great Britain under siege. Grand Marshal Jastrok rules the seas and the skies with reptile forces. On the ground, Commander Kalana crushes all ape resistance.

With Kate Stewart trapped, defence of the realm falls to UNIT’s old guard. Jo Jones, Mike Yates and John Benton are ready to do their duty and stand united.

The Tower is infiltrated, and UNIT must hold the line. At any cost. Lock and load…

2.4 Ice Station Alpha by Matt Fitton

Caught between human greed and an unstoppable alien power, Kate Stewart leads her closest allies on one final, desperate mission. This could be the very last chance for the human race.

Kate Stewart faces a forgotten invasion in Big Finish’ upcoming New Series box-set. Silence Will Rise!

This Autumn, the Earth will once again come under threat from the arch-enemies of the Eleventh Doctor, the Silence. These alien parasites have been trapped on Earth since the events of The Impossible Astronaut/Day of the Moon, but Big Finish’s new box-set will see them breaking through the Time Lord’s trap, leaving the world defenceless!

Commanding the defence against the extraterrestrial invaders is Kate Stewart (Jemma Redgrave), the daughter of legendary UNIT leader Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart. Kate will once again be supported by her loyal technical advisor Petronella Osgood (Ingrid Oliver) and heroic UNIT Captain Josh Carter (James Joyce).

Reinforcing the UK team is international troubleshooter Lieutenant Sam Bishop (Warren Brown). Returning to duty after the apocalyptic events of UNIT: Extinction is Colonel Shindi (Ramon Tikaram), whose battle against the Autons has taken a heavy toll.

Together, the UNIT team will have to take on the resurgent threat of the Silence, now voiced by master-of-monsters and Big Finish Executive Producer Nicholas Briggs.

Keeping a close eye on both sides of the conflict is journalist Jacqui McGee (Tracy Wiles), desperate to uncover UNIT’s activities to the public after her encounter with the Nestene Consciousness. But Jacqui’s investigation uncovers a far greater conspiracy…

You can pre-order UNIT: Silenced today for just £20 from the Big Finish website ahead of its release in November 2016. As with the majority of Big Finish releases, a complimentary digital copy is included with all CD orders – so you don’t need to wait to enjoy the story!
